As a word of encouragement, the planning team invites you to check out a review or two of Andy Crouch's book: click here. The weather was beautiful and so was the fellowship as Campus Ministers, Home Missions staff, student leaders and friends of campus ministry gathered May 8-11 in DeWitt Michigan. Host Kory Plockmeyer, (Michigan State University) warmly welcomed attendees to the lovely St. Francis Retreat Center where lively discussions around the theme "The Betweeness of Campus Ministry" were interspersed with times of worship and fun and shopping the super deals on books secured by Harry Lew from area publishers, Eerdmans and Baker. A late night hike in search of a campfire was not successful, but Smore's lovers did ultimately get their fix when Kory and wife Lauren opened their home for a BBQ one evening where they and area committee members prepared great food. Additional HM staff joined the attendees for the evening. A number of attendees remarked on the positive relationship with Home Missions and the possibilities that are stemming from it. The conference provided an opportunity for catching up with old friends and welcoming new Campus Ministers, Frank Guter (Berekely), Justin Struik (Iowa State - Areopagus), Alan van der Woerd (University of Northern BC) and Sid Ypma (University of Ottawa). Keynote speaker Todd Coffi, Congregational and Ministry Studies at Calvin College, challenged the conference with his overview of the phenomenon of "emerging adulthood" and the implications this has for Campus Ministry and the church.
