Pentecost Sunday | May 11, 2008
A Global God, A Global Task is the theme of this year's Missions Celebration. Since God first poured out his Spirit on a handful of believers on the day of Pentecost, the gospel has spread throughout the whole world. Today, more than two billion people, or about 1/3 of the world’s population call themselves Christians. That’s something to celebrate!
The gospel has spread to many different nations or people groups throughout the whole world. The church can be found throughout the entire globe. People from every “nation, tribe, people, and language” are standing before God’s throne and praising him through Jesus Christ (Revelation 7:9). All over Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, North America, and South America people are proclaiming the name of Christ. Today, God’s church is truly a global church.
