Sampler
I have a Sampler…now what?
- To understand the sampler and how best to use it you are encouraged to first read the letter on pages 2-3.
- Included in this sampler are songs that have yet to appear in a Faith Alive product with a few exceptions. So this means that the vast majority of them at first glance are unfamiliar. You may be happy to find many of them set to familiar tunes or easy to sing melodies.
- Due to the way this sampler is set up we were unable to get copyright permission to include songs from what one might consider the contemporary/modern or praise song genre. Worship songs from these genres will be included in the hymnal however.
- Check out the overall outline of the hymnal on pages 5-6. Note the two main sections. The first section “The Story of Creation and Redemption” begins on page 7. The second section “Worshiping the Triune God” begins on page 49.
- Each subsection of the outline (i.e. 1.1 Old Testament Life and Witness) has a small explanation regarding its focus. These explanations can be found in the text boxes. Don’t worry about the numbers in the outline, they are there as organizational helps at this point but won’t show up in the final hymnal.
- Following each text box is a list of additional songs found in each section. This is where you will find many of the familiar congregational songs listed.
- For a complete list of songs under consideration for inclusion go to page 76. Or better yet, click on the “song list” tab at the top of this web page for a more complete chart.
