In 1987 and again in 2007, the CRC joined with other Canadian churches in a public declaration supporting a New Covenant relationship with Aboriginal peoples. It is our responsibility to follow our words with action.

In conversation with Indigenous partners and with a deep yearning for reconciliation, the Centre for Public Dialogue has undertaken a public awareness, research, and advocacy program on Indigenous education. Given the historical role of education in the sins of assimilation, the need for focused public dialogue and action for justice in Indigenous education is urgent.  The following two documents are a foundational part of this program:

Moving from Regret to Substantive Change: Reconciliation in Education: (html) A background paper to guide our work
Living the Story of Reconciliation: Values, Community and Diversity in Education: Our submission to the First Nations Panel on Elementary and Secondary Education.
