Healing and Reconciliation Month

June 2012

May 26-June 21 is considered the Month of Healing and Reconciliation in Canada. And in our little corner, its proving to be momentous….
The Synod of the CRCNA met in Ancaster Ontario this month: As a way of honouring the Aboriginal Heritage of the place called Ancaster, Chief Bryan LaForme of the Mississauga’s of New Credit welcomed delegates to the Territory.

Synod also heard a moving presentation from Lori Ransom of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission on June 11, the 4th Anniversary of the Prime Minister’s Apology to Survivors of Indian residential schools. Please be in prayer this week for the Saskatoon national event of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. May this be a time of healing and unity! The CRC will make its first Expression of Reconciliation at this event.

Great things are also happening at the Centre for Public Dialogue this Summer: Meet Cameron Klapwyk our Communications Assistant who will be developing curriculum resources for the 8th Fire – a CBC Docs series on the journey of reconciliation. Welcome Cameron!
